Aleksander Ozolins

Aleks Ozolins is a freelancer in New York City, working through the AFM Local 802.

Aleks plays with numerous local and national orchestras and opera companies.

Horn playing colleagues and friends often come to me for candid advice, knowing I have thought long and hard about the various challenges that horn playing presents the performer. I offer my experience and knowledge, collected over the past 15 years playing professionally to my students in a clear and logical format.

A student’s best teacher is him/herself. Since we are all distinct in our physiology and psychology, I offer guidance and practical advice over hard fact, but always within the framework of proven approaches.

It is most important for me to instill in my students a sense of excitement about music making, and self-accountability in personal performance. My studio has included talented students, ambitious amateurs, and professionals looking for added insight.

Student Feedback

Aleks is a wonderful teacher, and vastly improved my playing, and even my appreciation, of music. He approaches a horn or music problem from all sides, and offers a varied and boundless supply of techniques, tips and tricks, to solve it. He knows exactly what you need, and how to get you there. Aleks always pushed me to do my best, and did so in the nicest way. He is extremely talented: the standard to which he holds his students is only eclipsed by the standard to which he holds himself!
